FK JERV TO SIGN FORMER AJAX WINGER?

FK Jerv have been relatively quiet in the transfer market so far but today could complete a deal for a former Ajax winger who has most recently played in the Ukrainian Premier League.

Erixon Danso could join the Grimstad outfit from FC Stal Kamianske according to Fotball Kanalen sources and looks on paper at least to be a brilliant deal for the OBOS Ligaen side. Danso will join Martin Hoel Andersen and Brice Wembangomo in moving to the ambitious FK Jerv team.

Danso played for FC Emmen in the Eerste (Dutch 2nd tier) Division last season, scoring 14 goals in 35 games and becoming a key player for the team.

This season he has not settled so well at FC Stal Kamianske who play in the turbulent Ukrainian Premier League. Danso will be hoping he can settle into life in Jerv a little easier.

A powerful winger with an eye for goal, Danso can fill the void left by Tonny Brochmann who joined Stabaek this Winter.

The Aruba international can play in a number of positions, most notably out on the left wing or through the middle as an attacking midfielder or second striker. He will add some much needed goals to this Jerv side who are arguably still short of a few players in the offensive positions.

The potential signing should generate a lot of excitement in the FK Jerv support. The move was paid for in part by money raised by supporters of the team.

This move is yet another example of some good scouting from FK Jerv of late. Michael Ogungbaro was signed from FC Midtjylland last season and went on to become a key player for the side.

Expectation for Danso to perform will be extremely high due to his impressive CV, but some patience will be required to allow the player to settle into Norway and his new team.

I spoke to Football Radar’s Eerste Analyst Jonny Coles who watched Danso during his time at Emmen and had this to say about the player;

«Danso is a very handy player. Strong, fast and makes a lot of chances for himself just through his own work rate. He had very little defensive duties at Emmen so just played on the wing on the counter attack.

His finishing is not great, though. Missed a lot of good chances but then again he created so many chances for himself and the team that you cannot really call this a negative trait.»

One thing is for certain, Jerv could complete a deal for a player who could well shine at this level. If Danso can carry across his form from the Eerste Division then Jerv have a potential Player of the Year on their hands.
